Dear Members,
Last night, your Steering Committee met to respond to the recent bargaining sessions between New Seasons Labor Union and the company. The Steering Committee voted to send a Strike Authorization Vote to you, by a unanimous vote of the 22 representatives present.
This vote will be for a one-day Unfair Labor Practice strike, in protest of New Seasons Market’s refusal to bargain in good faith after nineteen months at the table.
“In the past 19 months the company has made little progress on a good-faith first offer towards us. They have created and upheld discriminatory standards on attendance, PTO, and promotions designed to punish us for belonging to a union. They have wasted hundreds of man-hours pretending to bargain over health insurance only to cut our coverage unilaterally. They have arrived hours late to bargaining sessions. And they have put out proposal after proposal that cannot be taken seriously,” said Hans Heintze; a member of the Steering Committee from Slabtown.
The choice to authorize a strike is not an easy one. However, we know that when we stand together and support each other, we can accomplish great things.
“I have been inspired by how my fellow workers at Williams take care of one another. When management fails us it is my co-workers who help us get through the shift. When it comes to a potential strike? I know that my coworkers have my back. Because they have been doing that since the day I started,” said Ethan Mark Harrison, a Steering Committee member from Williams.
We must show the company that we are united in our demand for fair bargaining and a contract that reflects what we deserve.
We, the members, are done waiting. We believe it’s time to show management that we mean business. Your vote on strike authorization is your power—our power. Together, we're unstoppable. Let’s stand tall, fight hard, and make them listen. This is our moment. Let’s take it.

Anoche, el Comité Directivo se reunió para responder a las recientes sesiones de negociación entre New Seasons Labor Union y la empresa. Por unanimidad de los 22 representantes presentes, el Comité Directivo votó a favor de enviarles a ustedes un Voto de Autorización de Huelga.
Esta votación será a favor de una huelga de un día por Prácticas Laborales Injustas en protesta por la negativa de New Seasons Market a negociar de buena fe después de diecinueve meses de negociaciones.
“En los últimos 19 meses, la empresa ha avanzado poco en una primera oferta de buena fe hacia nosotros. Han creado y mantenido estándares discriminatorios en materia de asistencia, PTO y ascensos diseñados para castigarnos por pertenecer a un sindicato. Han desperdiciado cientos de horas de trabajo pretendiendo negociar sobre el seguro médico sólo para recortar nuestra cobertura unilateralmente. Han llegado con horas de retraso a las sesiones de negociación. Y han presentado propuestas tras propuestas que no pueden ser tomadas en serio”, afirmó Hans Heintze; miembro del Comité Directivo de Slabtown.
La decisión de autorizar una huelga no es fácil. Sin embargo, sabemos que cuando nos unimos y nos apoyamos unos a otros, podemos lograr grandes cosas.
“Me ha inspirado la forma en que mis compañeros de trabajo en Williams se cuidan unos a otros. Cuando la gerencia nos falla, son mis compañeros de trabajo quienes nos ayudan a terminar nuestro turno. ¿Cuándo se trata de una posible huelga? Sé que mis compañeros de trabajo me respaldan. Porque lo han estado haciendo desde el día que empecé”, dijo Ethan Mark Harrison, miembro del Comité Directivo de Williams.
