The below resolution was adopted at the December 5th, 2024 NSLU membership meeting.
Whereas,
NSLU is committed to broad working class organization, as shown in our bylaws and our commitment to a May Day 2028 General Strike.
Relationships NSLU has built with other Unions like PAT, BVWU and others, have been good strategic investments that have materially supported NSLU
SBWU is a new worker-led union in a similar position to NSLU as we’re both fighting for a first contract
SBWU has similar ideals to NSLU in that they have bravely taken political stances on issues like Palestine and Trans Rights
Workers at SB on 28th and Powell have asked for support from NSLU for their likely strike
Therefore be it resolved,
In the event SBWU goes on strike this Holiday season, NSLU will put out a public statement in solidarity and encourage members to support SBWU actions
NSLU will open all trainings and contract action team meetings to verified SBWU members
NSLU will donate surplus strike supplies like leftover food to striking SBWU members
In the event both NSLU and SBWU go on strike this holiday season, NSLU will strive to coordinate strike times in order to maximize visibility of both actions and practice our ability to show cross-union solidarity.
